Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiology is a relatively new and exciting field in medicine. Advances in technology have made it possible for doctors to treat disease from inside the body—using the body’s own vascular system—to perform minimally invasive procedures that once required open surgery.

These treatments are extremely precise, highly effective and result in a shorter hospital stay and a faster recovery.

An interventional radiologist is a specially trained doctor who undergoes up to 13 years of combined education and training. The are among the most highly trained doctors practicing medicine today, using radiological imaging like x-ray, ultrasound and CT to guide the procedures they perform.
